Problem

In many parts of Kenya, access to clean water can be a challenge. People often have to travel long distances to fetch water, which is time-consuming and physically demanding. MajiMaji App aims to address this issue by providing a convenient and reliable water delivery service.

The MajiMaji App is more than just a water delivery service; it’s a life-changing solution for many Kenyans. By providing a reliable and convenient water delivery service, we aim to alleviate the burden of fetching water and contribute to improving the quality of life for our users.

Access to clean water is crucial for maintaining good health and hygiene. By ensuring reliable delivery of clean water, MajiMaji App plays a vital role in preventing waterborne diseases and promoting better health among its users.

Solution

As MajiMaji App, we aim to revolutionize the water delivery experience by providing a platform for ordering water and managing deliveries. We believe that access to clean water should be easy and convenient.

By integrating these features into one app, we provide a comprehensive solution for water delivery. MajiMaji App is not just a water delivery app; it’s a solution for a fundamental human need. In summary, MajiMaji App addresses the need for a more convenient and reliable water delivery service. By allowing users to order water and manage their deliveries within the same platform, we make water delivery more efficient and accessible. With MajiMaji App, clean water is just a tap away

Design Process

1. Understanding the Brief

As the creators of MajiMaji App, we first need to understand our brief. We’re creating a mobile app that allows users to order water and manage their deliveries in Kenya. We need to understand our target audience, their water needs, and how they engage with delivery apps.

2. Research

We then delve into extensive research. We study the current water delivery market, competitor apps, and the latest trends in delivery services. We also conduct user surveys and interviews to understand our potential users’ needs and expectations from a water delivery app.

3. Define

Based on our research, we define our design challenge. We aim to create a user-friendly app that provides a seamless water ordering and delivery experience.

4. Ideate

In this phase, I generated a wide range of creative ideas for MajiMaji’s design and functionality. We start brainstorming ideas for app features, user interface design, and user experience elements. We think about innovative ways to facilitate water ordering and delivery management.

5. Prototype

I then translated my ideas into tangible prototypes. I started with low-fidelity prototypes like wireframes and mockups, which allowed me to visualize the layout and structure of Majimaji. I then moved on to high-fidelity prototypes that closely resembled the final product. These prototypes incorporated the key features and design elements identified earlier.

6. Test

Finally, I tested my prototypes with users. I conducted usability tests to see how users interacted with the prototypes and whether they could complete tasks successfully. I gathered feedback and observed users’ behavior to identify any issues or areas for improvement. I then refined the design based on this feedback.

Conlusion

The long process of researching, testing, and repeatedly honing my designs has led to a project I’m proud of, but still, I believe there’s a lot of room for improvement.

WHAT I LEARNED

It's good to ask for lots of help! Having a fresh pair of eyes helped a lot with nitpicking details I glazed over Settling on a good word choice can be harder than settling on a design choice... Brand identity is formed through every decision in tone, color, shapes, and more!

SOMETHING I WANT TO IMPROVE ON

I'd like to work more on my research method. The sample for my initial interview research was quite small and biased given that they were my friends. While they gave me incredible insights, it definitely would have been better if I reached out to a larger audience for more diversity!

MOVING FORWARD...

Fully developing the features of every page and adding interaction Testing with more users to see what engages them in other apps and create a sample curriculum to challenge the effectiveness of Eatcue's method
