Problem

In the digital age, music lovers are seeking a seamless, interactive, and social experience for music streaming. They want to discover new music, create playlists, and share their musical tastes with friends. However, existing platforms may not offer an easy and integrated solution for all these needs. This is where our mobile app, Tunify, comes into play.

Tunify addresses the need for a more interactive and social music streaming experience. By allowing users to stream music and share playlists within the same platform, we make music listening more enjoyable and social. With Tunify, users can discover new music, curate their playlists, and share their musical journey with others. It’s a harmonious blend of music streaming and social interaction.

This problem directly influenced my design process. It highlighted the need for a user-centric approach, emphasizing the importance of understanding the needs and preferences of the target users. In response to this problem, I conducted user research to understand the pain points, needs, and preferences of my users. I used these insights to inform my design decisions, such as implementing personalized filtering options and designing an intuitive user interface. My design process also involved iterative testing and refinement to ensure that the website effectively addressed the identified problem. This included usability testing to assess the effectiveness of the search and filter functions, and A/B testing to determine which design elements most effectively drove user engagement and satisfaction. By focusing on solving this problem, I was able to align my design process with delivering a product that not only meets the needs of its users but also provides a satisfying and efficient user experience. This, in turn, can lead to increased user engagement, higher conversion rates, and positive word-of-mouth for the website.

Solution

As Tunify, we aim to revolutionize the music streaming experience by not only providing a platform for streaming music but also enabling users to share their playlists.

We believe music is a social experience, and sharing playlists allows users to express themselves and connect with others. By integrating these features into one app, we provide a comprehensive solution for music lovers. Tunify is not just a music streaming app; it’s a community for music enthusiasts.

Design Process

1. Understanding the Brief

As the creators of Tunify, we first need to understand our brief. We’re creating a mobile app that not only allows music streaming but also enables playlist sharing. We need to understand our target audience, their music preferences, and how they engage with music apps.

2. Research

We then delve into extensive research. We study the current music streaming market, competitor apps, and the latest trends in music consumption. We also conduct user surveys and interviews to understand our potential users’ needs and expectations from a music app.

3. Define

Based on our research, we define our design challenge. We aim to create a user-friendly app that provides a seamless music streaming experience and facilitates easy playlist sharing..

4. Ideate

We start brainstorming ideas for app features, user interface design, and user experience elements. We think about innovative ways to facilitate music streaming and playlist sharing.

5. Prototype

We select the most promising ideas and turn them into prototypes. These could be wireframes or interactive mockups of the Tunify app. We ensure that these prototypes align with our users’ needs and provide a seamless music experience..

6. Test

Finally, we test our prototypes. We gather user feedback, observe user interactions with the app, and make necessary refinements. This iterative process helps us improve the app’s design and functionality, ensuring a great user experience.

Conlusion

The long process of researching, testing, and repeatedly honing my designs has led to a project I’m proud of, but still, I believe there’s a lot of room for improvement.

WHAT I LEARNED

It's good to ask for lots of help! Having a fresh pair of eyes helped a lot with nitpicking details I glazed over Settling on a good word choice can be harder than settling on a design choice... Brand identity is formed through every decision in tone, color, shapes, and more!

SOMETHING I WANT TO IMPROVE ON

I'd like to work more on my research method. The sample for my initial interview research was quite small and biased given that they were my friends. While they gave me incredible insights, it definitely would have been better if I reached out to a larger audience for more diversity!

MOVING FORWARD...

Fully developing the features of every page and adding interaction Testing with more users to see what engages them in other apps and create a sample curriculum to challenge the effectiveness of Eatcue's method
